it was the first night of 'the visit' last night, and the audience didn't throw anything at us, so we think it went well.
it has been really hard work getting to this stage, and i've burned up loads of energy because i'm on stage most of the time and have to show my descent from rather sad shopkeeper into serene dignity, but not until i've gone out of my mind a few times.
then i get beaten to death in the final scene, and my fellow thespians are very much enjoying this part of the play - so much so that my chiropractor was puzzled by the number of bruises on my back.
i've decided that when it gets to last night, i'm going to fight back.
just to add to the pressure we've been under, one of the main characters pulled out two weeks ago and we had to do a hasty reshuffle to fill the gap.
and the director decided only one week ago that she wanted the leading lady to play the role completely differently.
tense wasn't the word!
but all appears to be well.
got to go and have my afternoon nap now - i have to be at the theatre again in two hours.
best wishes everyone
